Use Guidelines

These guidelines strive to preserve Hill Collection material while maintaining accessibility.

Since it is a research collection, materials do not circulate.

  • Researchers must use care in handling Hill Collection materials. Many are old, valuable and easily damaged.
  • The only patron material that may be used with Hill Collection material are notepad and pencil. No exceptions are permitted. Backpacks, coats, and personal items other than note taking material must be left at the Circulation Desk.
  • Patrons should keep the records in the present arrangement. Turn pages slowly and carefully. Loose pages will stay in order if turned like pages in a book. Report any damage to the reference librarian.
  • Photocopying is not permitted of any Original Hill Collection material. Exposing old or fragile materials to photocopying damages them and shortens their life span.
  • Photo identification is required to use Hill Collection materials.
  • Theft, destruction or mutilation of library materials is a crime.
  • Food and drink are not allowed in the Hill Room.
