Culinary arts students can use this guide to find cookbooks, food chemistry books and much more at the SUNY Adirondack Library.

Find Books

To find a book about the culinary arts, or about a person who worked in the field:

  • enter a term or name into the Start Your Research Here search box on the library's home page and
  • limit it to Books using the dropdown menu (this limit includes physical books and ebooks, if you just want ebooks limit it to Ebooks)
  • click Search
  • to limit to just physical books, scroll down the page to Library Location in the left column and click on Circulating Books

Search tips: 

  • Most of the books that will be useful to you will be in the TX section on the second floor of the Library. 
  • If you do not find an entire book on your person of interest, enter the field in which they participated.
  • To access ebooks off campus, you will need to log in with your username and password.

Books on Course Reserve

SUNY Adirondack library has culinary arts books, including some textbooks, on course reserve.

Find E-Books

ProQuest Ebook Central

This subscription database offers more than 150,000 electronic books. 

  • It requires a SUNY Adirondack username and password for off-campus access.
  • These books originally appeared in print format. The library purchases these books in electronic format.
  • Users may print up to a certain number of pages. Note that printing on campus is limited to 20 pages.
  • Students, faculty and staff may create accounts in Ebook Central to download books to a device, save them in an electronic bookshelf, or use the highlighter and other functions.
  • Area residents may visit the library to use the library's computers to access Ebook Central.
