Finding Books: More about Finding Books and Media

Locate a book or electronic book in the SUNY Adirondack Library, search online reference books, other libraries, WorldCat and more.

How to Borrow Books

To borrow print books:

  • If you're looking for a specific book:
    • Search for it by subject, title or author with the "Start Your Research Here" box on the library's home page.
    • Note the book's call number, which indicates its location on the shelves.
    • Go to the upper level of the library to the book stacks and find the books.
    • A librarian can help you at any point, in person at the reference desk or through the Ask a Librarian link below.
  • Or, in advance, request to borrow print books from the library's search box page.
    • Sign in to the library's search box using your college username/password to get full access.
      • Just click on a print book link and fill in the Request for pickup at Library Circulation Desk.
      • The Circulation Desk staff (circulation@sunyacc.edu) will check out the book to your account and contact you to arrange pick-up.

To borrow ebooks:

  • It's easiest to just download individual chapters from ebooks.  See "How Do I?" tutorials below.

Borrowing Periods for Interlibrary Loans

The loan period for an ILL book is determined by the lending library, not by SUNY Adirondack. The loan period is usually three to four weeks.
